English Country Dance is a traditional form of dance from Barn Dance to the more formal Playford. If you have seen Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility or even Emma then you will have a pretty good idea from some of the ballroom scenes, however although the steps are the same the dress code is less formal, in fact almost any casual dress with soft soled shoes is acceptable.

Some dance tunes are from old folk songs others from the classics, some are light and jolly, others may be steadier. One thing you will find is that they are all easy to lisen to and easy to dance to. The steps and moves are laid down by the caller, you may start as a group of four or eight or even as a longways set, you will move with a partner, often changing as the dance progresses.

Most importantly it is enjoying yourself
